How to burn DVDs from mp4s on OS X

Installation

brew install ffmpeg
brew install dvdauthor

Make DVD

ffmpeg -i star-wars.avi -target ntsc-dvd star-wars.mpg
dvdauthor -t -o star-wars.dvd.d/ -f star-wars.mpg
dvdauthor -T -o star-wars.dvd.d/

If the aspect ratio is something other than 16:9 (such as 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen) see http://darkness.codefu.org/wordpress/tag/ffmpeg/

Burn DVD

mkisofs -dvd-video -o star-wars.iso star-wars.dvd.d/
